Given its showroom-ready appearance extends to the new corporate logo on its grille and front wings, the third-generation Peugeot 308 is destined for an imminent reveal ahead of sales commencing in the second half of 2021.

Striking an aggressive chord, the latest 308's styling expands on themes already seen with the 208, 2008 and the refreshed 3008. Complete with a fang-like DRL/indicator combination lights that plunge deep into the bumper, the Peugeot's flanks showcase bold creases above the wheelarches, while the rest of the pert profile is similar to the outgoing model.

Peeking through the driver's window of this left-hand-drive model it's clear that Peugeot's continuing with an evolution of its i-Cockpit dashboard arrangement with small steering wheel and high-set instruments, but expect physical controls for the air-con this time around. No more deep-diving into touchscreen sub-menus.

We expect that the Mk3 308 is riding on an updated version of the EMP2 platform, as the hatchback seen here will be complemented by a capacious estate in due course.

The underpinnings have been rejigged to accept full electrification during this 308's lifecycle, but initially the powertrain line-up will comprise of 128bhp, 178bhp and 222bhp PureTech petrols, a 128bhp BlueHDi diesel and a 222bhp plug-in hybrid. Rather like the recently revealed DS 4, it's not yet clear whether all of these powertrains will make it across the Channel.

Keep this page bookmarked for all the latest Peugeot 308 intel as we get it.
