Parkers – the definitive resource for car buying advice in the UK – has partnered CAR to bring you the award for the Best Large Electric Car in the prestigious Parkers New Car Awards 2022. The winner is the Skoda Enyaq iV, and it is one of a total of 20 award winners revealed today (27 September) by Parkers.

The Enyaq iV won this hard-fought category against some serious opposition. But it’s a winner because for Skoda’s first serious effort at an electric car, it’s brilliant. Starting with the interior, which is enormous, it’s perfectly sized for families and packed with all the features modern life demands. It also feels genuinely luxurious and welcoming – and on the road, it gives a comfortable ride, decent performance, and excellent range. In short, it’s a brilliant family car that allows most drivers to go electric without making compromises.

Parkers editor Keith Adams said: ‘The Skoda Enyaq iV is a gamechanger. Here’s an electric car that offers all the advantages and few of the traditional drawbacks of a plug-in car, wrapped in a stylish package with a luxurious interior with ample room for five. Most families will find a version of the Enyaq iV that’s good for them.

From the entry-level 60 model that squeaks in under the £35,000 cut-off for the government Plug-in Grant, to the long-range 80, the choice is vast. The exceptional comfort and near-silent cruising are the icing on the cake of this quite brilliant family car.’

It finishes ahead of the previous winner, the Tesla Model, which is still a brilliant all-rounder backed up with the best charging network in the business and the amazing Hyundai Ioniq 5, which combines concept-car looks, a long range, a user-friendly interior and a good all-round driving experience.

The winning car has been tested rigorously by the Parkers.co.uk team, which judged the best large electric cars on a combination of value, quality, reliability, cost-per-month on finance deals and fitness-for-purpose.

Keith Adams added: ‘In this year’s New Car Awards, we’re excited to have come up with such an interesting selection of winners. We’ve taken what we know about what our users are viewing on Parkers, with the team’s combined 100+ years of editorial expertise. We’re more than happy to our winners – they’re all part of a brilliant line-up of cars.’

Now in its fifth year, the Parkers New Car Awards 2022 continue to reflect the views of Britain’s car-buying public, with winners decided by a combination of the site’s expert reviewers’ verdicts in thousands of miles of road testing and the purchasing habits of the website’s 2.3+ million users actively involved in the buying process.
