Background
The Mokka is Vauxhall’s foothold in the crossover market, slightly bigger than the likes of the Nissan Juke and Renault Captur but a bit smaller than the Nissan Qashqai and Kia Sportage. The Mokka ticks the right chunky styling boxes on the outside but we’re less keen on the button-crammed centre console in the cabin. All those switches are wired up to plenty of mod cons though, with DAB, Bluetooth, cruise control and various other goodies standard across the range. The sole diesel engine is gruff and clattery but pulls strongly and returns decent fuel economy. We like the cushy ride but are less keen on the over-light steering. The Nissan Juke’s a better drive, but the Mokka could represent better value as far as kit’s concerned.
